Eliza Danca and Theodor Buia, first-year students in our Japanese language and literature program, won first place in the 2025 Central and Eastern European Japanese Video Contest organized by The Japan Foundation

The topic of the contest was “A Taste of Home” and our students chose to present traditional Romanian Christmas dishes in Japanese. In Judges’ own words, it was “a delightful video showcasing Christmas dishes, perfectly suited for the season”, “the structure of introducing the meal like a multi-course dinner, and the cinematography were excellent”, and the “various dishes were introduced with a great tempo, making me want to try them myself”. The ideas, the text, and the video clips are the result of Eliza’s and Theo’s passion for Japanese language and hard work.
