About us
The Center for East Asian Studies at the West University of Timisoara was founded in 2021 to meet the increasing demand for an organization to host research projects and initiatives, lifelong learning opportunities, scholarly conferences and publications, the promotion and development of the study of languages and cultures of East Asia (Japan, China, the Korean Peninsula) in the Western part of Romania, as well as nationally and internationally.
Research initiatives hosted and promoted by the CSEA are mainly focused on comparative analyses of premodernity and modernity of the cultures in the East Asian region on one hand and those of Romania, the Balkan region, Central and Eastern Europe, as well as of Europe in general, on the other. Concretely, the CSEA will host programs promoting East Asia in Romania and Europe, covering audiences not only within the tertiary education, but also elementary and secondary school students and adult learners.
