“Japan in Communist Europe” Symposium at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies on March 1-2, 2025

Associate Prof. Dr. George T. Sipos, the CSEA founder and director, was the keynote speaker at the “Japan in Communist Europe” Symposium, organized by Associate Prof. Dr. Irina Holca at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies on March 1-2, 2025.

Dr. Sipos talked about the “Japan and the Iron Curtain: Between Exoticism and Imaginary Land of Freedom”, and focused his talk on the long-lasting impact of modern writer Akutagawa Ryunosuke’s literary work in Romania, and the way in which it inspired literary circles after the fall of the Iron Curtain.
